The epistle of Paul to the Philippians  was written while Paul was a prisoner in Rome. This letter,  was filled with having the church to get their affairs in order. He used himself as an example as how you ought to walk. He cautions against false teachers.

What I found interesting is that Paul did not refer to himself as a Christian in the passage. Phil 3:5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrew; as touching the law, a Pharisee.

So who called them Christian ?

In  Acts 11:26 it states that the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.  In Acts 26:27-29  King Agrippa states that he almost was persuaded to become a Christian. Paul responds ,altogether such as I am, excepts these bonds. (in Jail)

So was the name change prophesied?

Isaiah 62:2 And the gentiles shall see your righteousness, and all the kings your glory and you shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD. Isaiah 65:15  And you shall leave your name for a curse unto my Chosen: for the LORD GOD will slay you, and call His servants by another name.

The Scriptures tells us to get the Wisdom and Understanding of GOD. But what are these attributes?  I like how it was said that Wisdom is not just knowledge, but the “know how.” God’s Wisdom enables a person to apply biblical principals to live life in the best and most effective manner for pleasing Him. Understanding is just this : discernment, enlightened intelligence, and comprehension of the ways of God. Proverbs chapter 8 goes more into detail of Wisdom. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, King Solomon wrote:

Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not, neither reject the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, (wisdom) and she will shall preserve thee: love her,(wisdom) and she shall keep thee.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and in all your getting get understanding. Exalt her (wisdom) and she shall promote you: she shall bring you honor, when you embrace her. Proverbs 4:5-8

Study to show thyself approved unto GOD, a workman that need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. But avoid and reject profane and vain (secular, disrespectful to our LORD) babblings, (gossip, confusion, self-obsessed talking): For it will increase unto more ungodliness. 2 Timothy 2:15-16
